Book of Stories
How do I best reach out to people to share a story?
The easiest way is within our platform, which allows you to send regular reminders to your email list. You will also have a unique link you can share over email, social media, and text messages and a QR code that you can print out for in-person events, like a memorial service or celebration of life. Once you purchase your Book of Stories, we'll send you a virtual toolkit full of story prompts and printable PDFs to help you with the process.
How much time do I have to collect stories?
You decide how long to keep your link open, however, we strongly recommend giving people a deadline. Over the years, we've learned people do best on a timeline. Writing a story can feel like a lot of pressure, which means we tend to put it off. A deadline encourages people to sit down and write! If the story collector decides they need more time, they can always adjust the deadline.
Can I order extra copies?
Yes, anyone can order extra copies at any time. We keep all books on file and available for you at any time. The only time you can't order a copy of the book is if the purchaser decides not to allow extra books to be sold.
Do you edit the stories?
Nope! Stories are personal and the way someone writes is part of their personality — like grandpa, who only writes in lowercase letters. As a contributor, don't stress over every minor detail — the story itself is more important than any grammatical errors.
Can I submit a story or create a book in a language other than English?
Yes, our platform is set up to support (most) languages.
I made a mistake with my story — can I edit it?
Yes, as long as the submission link is still open, you can edit your story. You'll be emailed a copy of your story after it's submitted to ensure it's exactly how you'd like it to be.
Is there a minimum number of stories needed?
In order to create a hard copy book, we require a minimum of 20 pages to print. If you'd like to print your book with less, reach out and we will do our best to get creative! If you can’t reach 20 pages, we will add blank pages at the end of your book where you can add handwritten stories later.
How do I know who has submitted or how many stories have been submitted?
You will have access to the names of those who have submitted so that you easily know who to send reminders to.
Once my book is complete, how long until I receive it?
Due to the custom nature of the book, it generally takes about 4 weeks for you to receive your book (longer if you are outside of the US). We’ll keep you updated with the tracking number once we receive the book back from the printer and ship it out to you.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we ship (almost!) anywhere in the world. If you’re unsure if we ship to you, just send us an email.
